Cristina Rodríguez (b. 1980) is a Colombian-American artist who currently lives and works in Oaxaca. She studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and has participated in residencies such as the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture in the United States, Flora Ars Natura in Colombia, and Casa Wabi in Mexico. Rodríguez’s work arises from the observation of her environment. Her practice is imbued with the nomadic experience, a particularity that has led her to focus her production on aesthetic ensembles that enter into dialogue with the places where she resides for periods of time. The artist articulates a vocabulary of gestures that she employs to compose objects of varied kinds, invoking the genius loci of a territory through ceramics, drawings, books and paintings.
